GTIN Discovery
Ensure Valid and Unique GTINs for all Your Products
In eCommerce, if you cannot identify a product, then nothing else works, and no one will buy it. That’s because when shoppers intend to purchase a product online, they typically search in one of three places: Amazon, Google or a digital marketplace they have used before.
If your product is not identifiable, then how much of a chance do you have of shoppers finding your products? Not having accurate GTINs for all products impacts the likelihood of Google returning your product as a natural search term. Cluster offers two service models (full-service and self-service) that address this fundamental issue for marketplaces.

Complete solution from catalog integrity and assortment to seller onboarding and more
Full-Service Model
Send us your product data catalog with as much item information as possible (titles, brands, listing URL, etc.) and we’ll get to work. Cluster will identify which GTINs are valid and operational, and weed out what is invalid or incorrect.
Self-Service Model
Get access to our APIs to integrate and validate your GTINs by leveraging Cluster’s product data catalog. Plus, we can even suggest the correct GTINs for items that may not have one (or the correct one).
Why Clusterfor GTIN Discovery?
GTIN Coverage
Through a collaboration with GS1, Cluster is able to identify and validate GTINs, as well as assign recommended GTINs based on a probability score, by using keywords or product descriptions.
Structured and Unstructured Data
Cluster can identify products from both structured and unstructured data so customers can enhance their product listings with more attributes and robust data.
Comprehensive Catalog
The Cluster product data catalog is the industry’s most comprehensive at 1 billion items and growing, enabling customers to efficiently enhance their own complete and accurate product data content.
Best Practices for GTIN Discovery
Cluster recently conducted a POC for an Australian marketplace to determine GTIN Discovery as well as the Catalog Enhancement use case. By taking a sample list of items to analyze that included details from its catalog like titles, brands, and listing URLs, Cluster was able to identify and validate 33% of the marketplace’s GTINs on the sample of products.
What are the implications of missing GTINs? Google deprioritizes items with missing and invalid GTINs. And, Google reports that products with GTINs have a 40% higher click-through rate and up to 20% more sales.
What is the impact on this marketplace? By looking at comparison data (monthly web traffic of competitor sites in the same locale), Cluster was able to determine an estimated annual ROI of ~$145k USD in marketplace profitability simply by missing valid GTINs (see image).
